I think Dodge has the reputation for being unnecessarily outlandish in both the design of the car and the power of them. It's a very boystrous company and I think the logo reflects this well in how intense and powerful the image of the ram is and how wide the lettering is. The diagonal red line suggest speed as well.
Hummer
When I think of American cars, what I immediately think of are Hummers. I think from outside of America looking in they are a very stereotypical American thing it that they're unnecessarily huge and are absolutely disastrous for the environment. Given that there's only six letters in the word Hummer the logo does very well to be so big, which is particularly relevant in the length given hummers tend to be really long cars. The bold black text suggest solidity and power.
Cadillac
In contrast to the previous two, Cadillacs are seen as a lot more elegant and somewhat prestigious, and the logo reflects this, especially in the logotype with the use of a script typeface, which is incredibly distinguishable from most other car companies. I'm not overly sure about the strange use of colours in the crest. I think given the diamond-like formation patterns in the horse shoe shaped thing around it, the crest would've looked better in various shades of metallic silver.
Chevrolet
Sixty years ago Chevrolet became the first American car company to produce a sports car, and since then their main focus has been on the aesthetics of the car. They tend to re-use the names of their old cars to give the idea of a journey towards perfection, and I think the gold is really appropriate for this. I really like their symbol, I'm not sure why though, I just think it looks nice and is very recognisable. Their logotype is horrible though, and I hate how some of the letters are joined and some aren't, it just looks ugly.
