OUGD503 - Royal Mint Competition - Ment Dent Coin Design

The last time the Royal Mint held a competition such as this, the winner was Matt Dent. The competition was split into 7 different categories, one for each of the 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p and £1 coin, although Matt Dent decided to consider them all as one brief, and consequently won them all.

The fact that a design such as this won the competition shows that the people at the royal mint are fans of conceptual designs and innovative approaches to design, which is something I'll consider when thinking about my design.

I think it also shows how this sort of national competition can provide massive exposure for an unknown designer, as well as providing the government with a quality solution, and it shows how graphic design can benefit everyone involved in it.
