OUGD505 - Study Task 4

Task: Get more under 25's to vote in the election.

Why don't we trust politicians?
  • Thatcher's betrayal of the North
  • Student fees promise broken by Clegg
  • Miliband sucking up to Russell Brand

Why don't we engage with politics?
  • Our standards of living are higher than those of our parents when they were our age, we don't feel the need for improvement/change as much as they do
  • Because of the student fees we feel we're entitled to some sort of apology from politics
  • Russell Brand told us not to
  • Politicians are portrayed as awkward idiots that we don't want to see ourselves as being associated with something as awkward as politics.

We recognised the heavy contrast between this awkward portrayal and the strength of the visual portrayal of politics and people in successful political propaganda.

Our proposal would be to engage people by making political spin-off games from previously successful games. By proposing what games these would be with initial ideas of how they would look, we'd be able to use our first hand experience of knowing what games have been successful in the past, and could apply the strong visual portrayal of democracy which currently doesn't exist.

Current Ideas

  • Monopoly
  • Beer Pong
  • Boxing Flash Game
  • Draw My Thing App
